Who bears the effects of climate change?
As the Earth warms, causing interdependent and cascading effects worldwide, the negative consequences of climate crisis are spread unevenly among communities and ecologies. Those most responsible for climate change see the least of its effects, and protect or hedge against what can’t be controlled. For those whose lived experience is marked by climate change: what is it like to bear this weight? Recognizing the myriad ways climate crisis is affecting human and non-human communities worldwide—with particular recognition of its disproportionate effects on Indigenous nations, and regions of the Global South—artists and scholars highlight unseen or underrepresented effects of climate crisis: in psychology, spirituality, language, land, means of subsistence, and relations with other humans and non-humans.
