Sean Morello
“How to… Haiku” Part 2(020) is a compendium of reflective moments that defined the year 2020. Artist Sean Morello created this zine as a continuation of a series of haikus made in 2019, titled “How to… Haiku.” In the original work, Morello’s research led him to understand haikus as pieces that captured a moment in time, like a set of instructions might. Morello originally wrote six haikus that were spoken as an audio piece, emphasizing the mundanity of the artist’s life. Rather than focusing on the mundane, this new set of ten haikus reflects the significant historical, socio-political events that shaped the world over this past year. Morello hopes readers find comfort in the unified relational aesthetic developed through the zine’s pages.
Sean Morello is a multimedia artist who works at the intersection of print media, installation, animation, video, sound, and assemblage. Using allegory as a conceptual framework, Morello explores collectivity, concurrent events, and the politics of identity through his work.
