Wen Tong

Wen Tong navigates the bittersweet through engaging the viewer with feelings of discomfort and existential anxieties. Tong’s paintings are inhabited by characters, both human and non-human, that exist in ambiguous spaces. Through developing everyday yet magical, dream-like environments, Tong aims to immerse viewers within the quiet, comforting, and imaginative moments rendered in her paintings.

Wen Tong was born in China and immigrated to Canada at the age of two. From a young age, Tong has been passionate about art and science, which have informed an interdisciplinary study of Biotechnology, Computer Science and painting. She considers herself an explorer who both conducts genetics research, and paints.
