In this workshop, we will be exploring zine-making as a tool for exploring and affirming our queer and trans identities. What would it mean to approach our intersecting identities with warmth and curiosity? How to use our lived experiences and perspectives as potential sources of inspiration and strength? This session focuses on treating ourselves and others with kindness during a time where much kindness is needed.

All supplies will be provided. Light snacks will be served. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch. This event is centered on 2SLGBTQ+ community members, and open to all.

Maple Xiang (they/she) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator who is interested in the ways art can be used for meaning making, self-discovery, self-expression, and healing. They are currently in their final term of their MEd in Adult Education and Community Development program at the University of Toronto and are exploring different ways to include arts-based pedagogies into their work to enrich learning experiences. Currently, Maple is invested in creative writing and poetry, but also has experience with acrylic painting, pencil sketching, and plushie making.

e|gallery is a physically accessible space. The e|gallery is located on the ground floor of the CCT building, accessible via the east entrance (adjacent to parking lot 9) at ground level, or by elevator from the main floor entrance and at parking garage levels 1, 3, and 5. Accessible multi-user gendered washrooms are located at ground level, and accessible multi-user all-gender washrooms are located on the third floor of the CCT Building.
