Tracy Qiu

Tracy Qiu (she/hers) is a researcher, educator, gardener, and artist of Chinese descent and settler-Canadian acculturation. She is currently working on her doctorate at Concordia University (Montreal, QC) where she explores the entangled colonial roots of Western plant knowledge. Her research asks what it means for botanical gardens – as inherently colonial entities – to ‘decolonize’. Her work engages with garden organizations such as parks, botanical gardens, and gardening groups by exploring and applying decolonizing and decentering practices to questions about identity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging in public landscapes.
